After being given the beginning of the prophecy from Death Eater Serverus Snape, Voldemort went after Harry Potter, killed Lilly and James before using a dark curse to create Harry’s iconic lightning bolt scar and faked his death.
Once Harry arrived for his first year at Hogwarts he was introduced to the wider wizarding world. The major difference in the events that happened in the books and our alternate universe is that Voldemort has not attacked anyone since his apparent death. Voldemort has a much grander scheme for world domination and would find it difficult to do so appear as a tyrant.
The events of the first book happened, however Quirrell was alone when getting the Philosopher's Stone for his dark master. Voldemort had forced his follower into an Unbreakable Vow, before stepping back to wait for the gift of immortality. The events of the second book happened, when Lucius Malfoy (not realizing that the Dark Lord was actually still alive) planted Tom Riddle's diary in Ginny's hands in an attempt to resurrect his master. The events of the third book happened, however Lupin was not revealed as a werewolf and so continues teaching as the Defence Against The Dark Arts teacher.
The next major difference is what the initial story-line starts as. Instead of the Tri-Wizard Tournament a world wide series of 7 tournaments combined with school exchanges and tourism events is starting. Hogwarts students can now enjoy a brief transfer to Beauxbatons Academy of Magic or Durmstrang Institute, or if those aren't to their liking can do a transfer to one of the many overseas wizarding academies. During the school year, seven major tournaments will be happening, all to promote inter-wizarding friendships. This event was proposed by a young go–getter in the International Department of the Ministry of Magic and is named The Wenlock Tournaments, after Bridget Wenlock whom discovered the magical properties of the number 7.
Little do they know that this event is the brainchild of Voldemort, and due to his preoccupation on his new plan the Death Eaters have recruited very well over the last several years. Join us and discover what transpires, and above all else remember that happiness can be found in the darkest of times if one only remembers to turn on the light.
